Kristi Terry Zerull, has been creating art (of sorts) since early childhood...like many of us. Eyes were seen throughout the house; luckily, she eventually found paper to be just as satisfying a surface for her creations. Those crayon eyes evolved into faces brightened by life-like eyes of great depth and emotion.

"I love seeing my work bring such joy to people. A part of myself is given away with each piece and it is nice to see how much they appreciate the hard work and passion I put into my art. I love seeing the light in their eyes and knowing that THIS is why I create, why I push myself to achieve new heights with each piece."
Kristi's love of art only grew through the guidance of wonderful teachers in high school and college. She received her Associates in Liberal Arts-Specializing in Fine Art at Virginia Western Community College (1992) and her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art at Mary Washington College (1995).

Once out of college, Kristi worked in photography, framing, graphic design, sign creation, and still supports the Navy with graphic design. Working out of her home since having children has helped launch her art career.

In 2005, Kristi had her first solo exhibit at The Loft in Fredericksburg, Virginia, running from September to November. The exhibit was made up of a myriad of recent pieces created since May 2005. Although her art reflects a love of nature, her specialty still lies in portraiture. Kristi joined Art First Gallery in September 2005. She shared a show in May 2006 with Ruth Ann Loving. Following that, Kristi had a solo show at the Bistro Bethem in downtown Fredericksburg (April-May 2007), a show in May 2008 at the Third Floor, and another show at Art First Gallery in September 2009. In October 2012, Kristi left Art First Gallery to focus on other venues, competitions, and commissions. She has won awards in Fredericksburg and Bowling Green competitions. She is a part of the "Art in Common" artist group as well as member of FCCA. May 2011 she exhibited at Lee's Retreat in Fredericksburg for a month or two and, once again, with the art group "Art In Common" as a group exhibit. In November 2012 she had a solo exhibit at Backdoor Gallery. Ever since then she has been an associate member and displays a few pieces regulary. Kristi also had studio space at Sophia Street Studios (SSS) from June 2011-2012. She is now painting out of her studio at home in Spotsylvania but still exhibits artwork in the gallery at SSS. When she has the time, she enters shows around town. But, if you do not see new works at the two galleries, she must be busy with her commissions.
